WHAT WE DO FOR OUR MEMBERS

Advocacy & Legislation
We advocate for legislative aides and political organizers at the Capitol, seeking to create meaningful solutions through legislation. As the terms of employment for legislative aides are set through the legislative process, PWG organizers are able to give them a voice for the first time in the position's history. Staying true to our mission statement, PWG also weighs in and advocates for other legislation in the labor movement.

Conflict Mediation
In the case of conflict between political workers and their supervisors, a PWG representative is allowed to be present in any negotiations involving terms of employment and future contracting. The presence of a union representative can help insure that conflicts are handled according to the PWG grievance process, and to assure that in previous imbalances in the power dynamics of employment can be corrected by both parties having access to fair representation.

Progressive Networking
Our guild frequently hosts happy hours, social events, and networking opportunities for up-and-coming political professionals. Part of the power of a union is being able to advocate for both individual workers and our collective workforce, and making the connections needed to succeed in a career as a political worker. As such, we are always looking to provide these opportunities in the form of events, trainings, and mentorships to our members.
Our Mission
We are workers across politics and government who believe in social and economic justice. We will hold our employers accountable and use our unique positions to fight, in solidarity with all workers, for a just and equitable Colorado. Those in positions of power in and around government cannot say they are committed to fighting for social and economic justice if they are not extending the benefit of these values to their own staff. Our union brings together progressive legislative aides, campaign workers, and organizers to ensure that our values are reflected in our workplaces.

We are an organization of agents for change. Our state and our country is grappling with unjust systems that have brought us to a generational crisis. We will fight for social and economic justice, and this pursuit ultimately requires us to also fight for our own dignity as workers.
